The Russian market of polypropylene thermally bonded spunmelt-materials: the second wave

Abroad, nonwovens, produced by spunbond technology, have become widely used since the early 60's of the last century. Today they are used in many fields, ranging from the manufacture of baby diapers to construction of roads and houses. The most widespread spunmelt-materials made of polypropylene. In Russia, the materials of this type have been widely used only in the late 1990's. and the volume of their consumption grow from year to year. Literally, until recently, more precisely, by 2005 most of these materials in Russia was imported from abroad. After 2006, the situation with Russian-materials production spunmelt start correcting, and very rapidly. If in 2001 in Russia there was the only one manufacturer of such materials - OOO “Sibur-Geotextiles”, producing 2,6 thousand tons a year, then at the end of 2007 there were already four with a total production of approximately 15 thousand tons per year . By the end of 2009, in the case of start of construction of factories, the production capacity in Russia may exceed 65 thousand tons of polypropylene thermally bonded spunmelt-materials a year.
